Fijian Sporting Goods Appeal

Date of the Event or Workshop: -

In  August, Skate 4 Life has organised a group of volunteers who will be visiting cyclone ravaged Fiji.  Our intention will be to distribute sporting equipment and clothing to children in villages who lost their possessions and can’t afford to replace them.

We have received great support and donations from a number of organisations.  Special mention should be made for the generous support from Bill Harrigan at Oz Tag, Liane and the team at Football Federation Australia, Trish Bright at Little Athletics Australia, John Andersen at the NRL and Lauren Francis at GWS Giants.

The Petero Civoniceva Foundation has also helped out with the logistics on the ground.

Thank you Oz Tag

A big thank you to Oz Tag for their kind donation of sporting equipment for our Fijian trip in August 2016.  I will be delivering these much needed sporting supplies to children who lost their equipment in Cyclone Winston.

I have received donations and support so far from NRL and Soccer Australia.

SOUTH COAST MP PRAISES LOCAL VOLUNTEERS

Date of the Event or Workshop: -

Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock yesterday praised the volunteers of the Youth & Community Projects Committee of the Culburra Beach Progress Association for their dedication and commitment to the Culburra Beach Skate Park Project.
On Sunday Mrs Hancock attended the South Coast’s first ever Young Coasties Festival to welcome the announcement of $512,000 in funding towards the construction of the Curley’s Bay Reserve Recreational Community Park.
Mrs Hancock attributed the wonderful news to the calibre of submission lodged by the Association, for making their project a forerunner in the state-wide round of ‘Category 3 Sport and Recreation Grants’ offered by the NSW Government.
“To build a park the community want and need is an expensive task, and the community has worked together, fundraised together, and banded together to make this new recreational park happen.
“It’s a great example of how the community has worked together to be the driving force behind making a project of this size happen. Well done Culburra Beach,” said Mrs Hancock.
Mrs Hancock congratulated the Youth Projects Committee members John Segol, Erin Bell, Eamon Seymour Munn, Luke Munn, Mark McDonald, and Alex McNeilly. She also paid tribute to the Youth Action Group members Ryan Byrnes, Mat Byrnes, Daniel Wood, Leon Vukelic, Naya Rogers, Charlie Hayes, and Jayden Kelly.
“I am delighted to support this project and see it come to life.
“In addition to $50,000 already awarded by the NSW Government, this $512,000 grant boost will provide the area with a new skate park, basketball court, outdoor exercise station, playground, improvements to the BMX and scooter tracks, toilet facilities, outdoor tables, BBQ fencing, and signage,” Mrs Hancock said.
Project manager and committee member Alex McNeilly said the plans for the new park will be shared with the community in the coming weeks.
“This is great news for the Culburra Beach community, and we can now move forward to ensure our youth have world class facilities.
“On behalf of the Culburra Beach Progress Association I would like to thank the NSW Government, Deputy Premier Troy Grant, and Shelley Hancock,” Mr McNeilly said. MEDIA: Brigid O’Bryan │Office of Shelley Hancock │ 0408 681 294

CULBURRA BEACH SKATE PARK TO RECEIVE NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Date of the Event or Workshop: -

Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock has today announced that the Culburra Beach Progress Association has been awarded $50,000 from the New South Wales Government’s Community Building Partnership Program.
Mrs Hancock said the funding would be used to construct a brand new skate park on Curley’s Bay Reserve at Culburra Beach.
“I am delighted to announce that the NSW Government is going to contribute $50,000 towards this exciting project for the residents of Culburra Beach,” Mrs Hancock said.
“I’d like to congratulate the Culburra Beach Community for uniting together behind this project.” “I have been very impressed by the initiative shown by the young people from the Culburra Beach Youth Committee, who have been campaigning and fundraising for the skate park to go ahead,” Mrs Hancock said.
“The Committee has been very pro-active, organising fundraisers such as a ‘Mega Music Trivia Show’, ‘Canoe Paddle’ as well as a number of raffles which have been well supported by local business,” Mrs Hancock said.
The new park will replace the previous park, built on private land, which was demolished on the 25th July 2015.
“This really is going to be a wonderful addition to the Culburra Beach community and I look forward to seeing the project come to life in the new year,” Mrs Hancock said.
